Where To Stay In Thailand: The Best Places In 2023
Here are 7 places we think are the best places to stay. If it’s your first time in Singapore, it might be best to stay in Marina Bay or the Civic District.
Or if you’re a little more budget conscious, Chinatown, Bugis and Kampong Glam and Little India might be good options for you. And the other two areas, Orchard and Clarke Quay, also have their pros and cons.
These are the best places to stay in Singapore. We’ve highlighted a few select attractions to help you find your limits.
Last time we were in Singapore, we stayed at Yotel Singapore Orchard Road. We can definitely recommend it, especially if it’s your first time in town.

120 euros per night for a room. But the price may vary depending on the season. It was really great value for money, the room was very clean and the view is awesome!
Although our room was 14 square meters, it made good use of the space. There is a slot on each side of the bed to slide your luggage (up to 70 liters). During the day, you can raise the upper part of the bed, giving more space in the room.
Orchard Road MRT station is nearby, there are many great dining and shopping options nearby and you can get anywhere anytime.
Marina Bay is undoubtedly the most famous place in Singapore. It is the city’s biggest tourist magnet because of the bay, all its attractions and the world famous Marina Bay Sands.

Its central location is of great importance if you want to quickly reach other parts of the city: it borders the trendy Clarke Quay with its vibrant nightlife to the north, the Central Business District with its glittering skyscrapers to the west, and the Civic District, The historical heart of Singapore, to the east.
Of course, all the amenities and entertainment options come with a price: Marina Bay is one of the most expensive places to stay in Singapore.
Our favorite search engine, booking.com, lists 12 hotels in Marina Bay, all of which are high priced and at least 5 stars. Not surprisingly, these are mostly luxury hotel chains.
A view of the Singapore skyline from the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The bright building in the middle of the picture is the Fullerton Hotel, facing the skyscrapers.
Where To Stay In Milan: 6 Best Areas Around The City Center
The area around Orchard Road is Singapore’s main shopping district. There are malls, malls and more malls, with several shopping streets packed in between.
But don’t think of it as some kind of lifeless retail park. The streets are lit up with colorful lights, there are countless trendy cafes and bars, and there are some lovely parks to sit and relax.
There are many hotels around Orchard Road, including fine boutique hotels, guest houses and large hotel chains. Room rates are also slightly lower than Marina Bay. We stayed at YOTEL Singapore and can highly recommend it.
Clarke Quay is very central and known for its vibrant nightlife. It is home to Singapore’s hottest clubs like Attica, Shera and Zouk, countless bars, waterfront restaurants and everything you need after the sun goes down.

“After sunset” is the operative phrase here – there’s not much to do here during the day. But that soon changes when happy hour starts and the music starts!
Unfortunately, there isn’t much variety in accommodation options for Clarke Quay – booking.com only lists three different hotels.
Chinatown is one of the oldest districts in the city and the Chinese have settled here since the beginning.
The old charm of temples, night markets and traditional shops has been preserved to this day, although unfortunately, the area is slowly but surely being swallowed by the nearby central business district. But now you can still fully enjoy the unique atmosphere of this historic district.
Best Places To Stay In Turkey
Chinatown is a major destination for many backpackers as it has some very cheap but not great hotels.
We stayed at Little India for the first time in Singapore and we were not disappointed! The area is a good alternative to the more expensive districts of the city as there are many affordable boutique hotels here.
Lovers of India will feel right at home! Seragon Street is the main thoroughfare of the area and a very active area. There are countless delicious Indian restaurants, colorful bazaars, cheap fashion and electronics malls.
It comes alive in the evening when the locals gather around the corner to drink a cool beer and the restaurants start to fill up.
Where To Stay In Singapore
As mentioned before, we stayed alone in Little India, at the Wanderlust Hotel. The hotel is in a prime location, is in the middle price range and has rooms with some very unique features.
Bugis and Kampong Glam are two separate districts, but they blend seamlessly. Bugis is home to shopping malls, restaurants and modern residential buildings, while Kampong has a lot to offer in the way of culture.
Also known as the ‘Arab Quarter’ – a great place to shop for silk or spend an afternoon in trendy cafes and independent designer boutiques. The area has a small but distinct nightlife scene.
The Civic District is worth a visit for its many museums and monuments, as well as its proximity to Marina Bay, Clarke Quay and the Arab Quarter.
Best Places To Stay In Iloilo
The number of restaurants and nightlife leaves nothing to be desired, although food and drink prices are not as cheap as Little India or Kampong Glam. The area is known for the Raffles Hotel, one of the most famous hotels in the world.
Accommodation in the Civic District is generally very expensive and there are no hostels for budget travellers. Most of the hotels here are of the luxury variety.

If you are flying directly to Singapore from the US it. Or Europe, it may seem like you haven’t traveled very far at first. On the surface, it may be the most “non-Asian” of all Asian countries. The radio hosts speak English, the taxi driver tells you to hold your seat and the prices are just as high as at home.

We first visited Singapore in 2002, on our way back to Norway from Australia where we studied and immediately fell in love with the city/country. Whenever we are in Asia, we try to visit Singapore, which means we have stayed in different hotels almost every year.
