Maldives Offers A Slice Of Tropic Paradise For All Tastes
What we love: The resort’s magical architecture, with innovations like the house-sized Mantaray picnic hut or the wave-like welcome lounge.
Tip: The only difference between the two standard overwater villa categories (besides the nightly rate) is more space, meaning an extra living room and a larger outdoor sun deck.
In Jani, the philosophy and aesthetics of the Soneva brand come together to form what is almost the perfect retreat. The resort is located off a large island and is surrounded by endless shallows in one of the country’s largest lakes. The architecture and interior design adapt to the idea of a barefoot beach holiday, celebrating the beautiful whitewashed style, while impeccable service makes every day special here.
We love it: For huge overwater villas, each with a private infinity pool and retractable roof over the bedroom (so you can sleep ‘under the stars’). Many villas have water slides – and they are great fun!

“Lamu has all the elements of a perfect holiday, including the true luxury of a barefoot resort, served in a carefree relaxed atmosphere.” — Laamu’s study of the six senses
Our regular readers will remember that we’re big fans of Six Senses’ rustic-chic concept. After a recent visit to Six Senses Laamu, we concluded that the chain’s outpost in the Maldives may best exemplify its philosophy of combining beautiful remote locations, eco-friendly lifestyle and uncompromising luxury.

What we love: What we love most about this resort are the stunning Ocean Water Villas – spacious, with innovative features and designed with a style that matches the paradise destination experience.
Tip: All guests have bicycles available for use. And if you’re returning or booking a Laamu Water Villa class or above, your bike will be personalized with a wooden name tag. Nice touch!

Soneva Fushi was created by Sonu Shivdasani and his partner Eva, a power couple in the hospitality industry and the first choice to create the concept of a back to nature, barefoot luxury holiday. Soneva Fushi is the first desert island retreat in the Maldives – it created the “sailor chic” trend in its own right.
Everything You Need To Know About The Maldives
Seriously eco-friendly, simple, smart luxury makes staying at the hotel a magical experience. Also, Soneva’s silly shoeless concept isn’t just on paper, as you can be barefoot during your stay. We have done.
We like: Villas, mostly designed in a “treehouse” style. This beautiful sanctuary is well covered with greenery. Oh, and also, Soneva Fushi has a fully equipped night sky observatory!
Tip: One important thing comes with seaplane travel – noise canceling headphones. Of all the headphones we tested, we can recommend the Sony WH1000XM3 as the best. advertising

Diving Into Four Seasons Resort Maldives At Kudaa Huraa
“[The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort] contrasts with the exquisite beauty of its unique lagoon-style waterfront design.” – From our St Regis Vommuli review
St. Regis Maldives is a stunning architecture designed by Vomuli Architects. For Vomuli, the Singapore-based design studio created several elegant abstract structures and buildings, such as a bar inspired by a whale shark or a spa reminiscent of the shape of a lobster. The resort’s bold architecture extends to the guest accommodations, particularly the bold silhouettes of the overwater villas. These villas offer spacious sun decks with private plunge pools – best captured in this video on our Instagram page.
We love it: In addition to the resort’s design, the food at St. The Regis Maldives Vomuli Resort is amazing. It was a real highlight of the stay.
What you should know: The resort is quite remote. It takes a 40-minute seaplane flight to get here from Male.

Gili Lankanfushi is one of the best beach villa resorts in the world. On a beautiful coral island surrounded by sparkling blue seas, this Maldives retreat exudes ‘barefoot chic’ luxury. It offers a tranquil experience with unparalleled ambiance, luxury and level of service and sophisticated design.
What we love: Villas in respectable structures have a real wow factor. We have created a romantic bedroom, a beautiful sunroom and a roof terrace where we spend the night in our uniquely designed gazebo located in our large shallow. Sleeping under the stars was wonderful.
Tip: If you want to make your stay special, book one of the individual villas. They sit on the edge of a coral reef away from the resort and are almost their own island accessible only by boat.

One of our recent trips to the Maldives wouldn’t be complete without a stay at COMO Resort, which we’ve been looking forward to seeing since it opened in 2015. We always choose Malifushi’s perfectly serene atmosphere and elegant look.
“Maalifushi is mostly about peace and quiet, and as such, it’s as quiet a destination as you can find.” — from our review of COMO Maalifushi.

We love it: the island smells good, thanks to Shambhala and COMO’s own high-quality cosmetics, which are dispensed in the bathroom. And the COMO Shambhala Spa was as good as we expected!
Tip: The sun deck sunset villas are not very private as occasional snorkelers may wander into deeper areas out front.

We could stay for just one Riti Rah for a month and never get bored. With its many attractions, exquisite style and charming atmosphere, the five-star Reti Rah is a cross between an exclusive country club and a quiet spa resort. The place looks like a millionaire’s playground.
The Maldives: Which Island To Choose For Your Vacation?
We love it because: The beach villa we stayed in with a pool. It offers luxury, style and plenty of space inside and out. We also spent a few days in the overwater villa, but we prefer the beachfront.
Tip: Don’t miss the spa. The treatment was one of the best we have had. We recommend a 2 hour session to fully appreciate it.
